How can I dispose of my old x-rays?

Recycling

X-rays can be recycled - they are processed to extract silver.

If you have a small quantity of x-rays, simply place them in an envelope and post to the address below. If you have large volumes (over 20kg), you can arrange for collecting by phone.

Quantum Technical Services
'X-Ray Recycling'
7/220 Barry Road
Campbellfield, VIC 3061
1300 247 266

Sometimes community groups such as Scouts also collect x-rays for recycling.

See Planet Ark's ‘Recycling near you' website to search for drop for off sites in your area.

Household chemical collection

X-rays can also be taken to household chemical collections.
