Healthy Parks Healthy People

Did you know that every time you visit a park, you're improving your health and wellbeing?

Regular exercise and relaxation are both important for keeping your mind and body healthy. But why stay indoors when you can get your heart rate up or sit back and unwind in one of our spectacular national parks?

Let your senses come alive! Breathe in the fresh air and take in the scenery as you explore nature on a bushwalk, jog along an unspoiled beach or tackle a mountain bike trail.

Or simply escape the stress of daily life and indulge in the peace and tranquillity of the natural environment.
Parks are good for you! Research shows that visiting a park for recreation and relaxation can help to lower stress levels and blood pressure, boost immunity, promote healing, improve mental wellbeing, and enhance your quality of life.

To encourage people to visit our national parks and experience the social, physical and mental health benefits of being in the natural environment, we have adopted the national Healthy People Healthy Parks initiative - a program of events and activities that highlight the benefits of a healthy park system and its contribution to the health of individuals and the community.

We're currently developing our Healthy Parks Healthy People program - stay tuned for events and activities in a park near you.
