|The Heritage Branch and its Deputy Director and M24 Project Manager Tim Smith won an international UNESCO Asia Pacific Culture Heritage Award (Award of Distinction) in 2009 for the management of the Japanese midget submarine wreck M24. UNESCO identified the project as “setting a new global benchmark for the protection and interpretation of an underwater heritage site”.|
