Camping is a popular activity in Munmorah at Frazer Beach and Freemans camping areas. 

Please note: there are free gas BBQs at Frazer Beach and Freemans camping areas, and fires are not permitted in Munmorah State Conservation Area.

Just 50m from Frazer Beach, this intimate campground is set in a peaceful, protected pocket of the Frazer valley and boasts beautiful coastal views.

Frazer campground is a great base for fishing, diving, surfing and walking, and Frazer beach is a popular spot for swimming – it’s patrolled during the Christmas and Easter school holidays. Though if you're after a more chilled escape, there’s always the lagoon, where you can take a dip and the kids can play safely in the calm waters.

Getting there: Frazer campground is located at Frazer Park in Munmorah State Conservation Area.
                                   
From the northern entry of Munmorah State Conservation Area:

  • Follow Blue Wren Drive from Pacific Highway, Wybung (no right-turn from the south) and then turn left into Birdie Beach Road.
  • Turn right into Campbell Drive, then right onto Frazer Beach Road and follow to the end.


From the southern entry of Munmorah State Conservation Area:

  • Follow Birdie Beach Drive from Elizabeth Bay Drive, Lake Munmorah, and turn right onto Campbell Drive.
  • Turn right onto Frazer Beach Road and follow to the end

Opening hours: Munmorah State Conservation Area is open 6am to 6pm from April to September and 5.30am to 9pm during daylight savings (call the area office on (02) 4972 9000 for exact dates). A private security firm provides an emergency opening service after hours – call (02) 4940 7788. Fees apply and are payable at the time of call-out.

Facilities: picnic tables, gas/electric barbecues (free), flush toilets, cold showers

Water supply: Bore water is available, but campers should bring their own drinking water

Not permitted here:

  • Dogs.
  • Solid fuel fires.

Birdie Beach, Munmorah State Conservation Area (Image: David Benson/OEH)Get the whole family together for a relaxing camping escape on the beautiful central coast of NSW.

Set in the heart of Munmorah State Conservation Area and nestled in bushland, this grassy, landscaped campground has ample space with designated sites for caravans and trailers as well as spots for tent camping. Many sites are shaded by the branches of established trees, and there are covered barbecue areas. The long, sandy stretch of Birdie Beach is just a short walk from the campground – a leisurely walk along the beach is a great start to the day.

Fantastic fishing and surfing spots as well as bushwalks are also close at hand. And if you’re there during the winter months, you might just see whales as they make their way along the coast.

Getting there: Freemans campground is located in Munmorah State Conservation Area.

From the northern entry of Munmorah State Conservation Area:

  • Follow Blue Wren Drive from Pacific Highway, Wybung (no right-turn from the south) and turn left into Birdie Beach Drive.
  • After about 0.6km, you'll see the campground entry on your left.

From the southern entry of Munmorah State Conservation Area:

  • Follow Birdie Beach Drive from Elizabeth Bay Drive, Lake Munmorah, for 2km, and the entrance to the campground will be on your left.
