Aboriginal Discovery Excursions

Aboriginal Discovery rangers give students the chance to experience Aboriginal culture. The majority of units  will relate to this session. Activities can include bush tucker, face painting, dancing, hand stencilling, visiting a rock engraving site,preserved animals Aboriginal artifacts.

Biology - A Local Ecosystem

This involves a wetland ecosystem investigation at Cabbage Tree Basin. Students plan and participate in an investigation to measure and record the abiotic parameters to which the main plant and animals species in this mangrove wetland have adapted. Distribution and abundance of species are determined. Coastal heath ecosystem is also available for investigation.

Global Environments

Students investigate the geographical processes that form and transform a rainforest environment. Interactions within the rainforest, biotic and abiotic processes are investegated using a range of scientific equipment.

Global Environments - Rainforest

Students investigate the biodiversity and structure of a sub-tropical rainforest. Human interactions and conservation issues are examined. Students use equipment to record abioti factors, identify and observe vegetation and wildlife. An extended rainforest walk is optional.

Students use equipment to examine a variety of mini-environments. Students observe interrelationships and impacts of change.

Preliminary Course - Biophysical Interactions

Students investigate interaction within the rainforest of Bola Creek Catchment. This program emphasises processes associated with atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere and biosphere. Scientific equipment is used during investigations. Human use, introduced organisms and other issues affecting the catchment are investigated.

The Need for Shelter

Students investigate the needs of people and other living things for shelter. Students investigate natural habitats and built environments.

Visit the First National park in Australia

Students explore issues, values and attitudes towards national parks. Students will investigate animal habitats using investigative tools, role-play park workers and observe human impacts. Students will also take a short walk where they investigate the bush around them.

Wet and Dry Environments

Students explore a wet environment in a lagoon and an estuary, and people’s interactions and responsibilities towards these environments. Students examine wildlife and develop a food chain through a range of interactive activities.

What's Alive

Students investigate living and non-living things in the natural environment. Students use binoculars, hand lenses and identification cards to explore the national park's natural and cultural features.
