Cawndilla camping and day use areas still closed - Cawndilla campground

Cawndilla camping area (including the Cawndilla day use area) remains inaccessible.

Changes to park facilities and access.

You may have noticed a lack of park facilities along the River Drive, including toilets, picnic tables and woodfire BBQs. Many park resources were damaged or lost during the flooding of the Darling River. Please bear with Kinchega NP staff as work to restore infrastructure to all campsites is underway.   

Park Use Fees (day use and camping fees) can be paid at the pay station located at the Kinchega Woolshed.  

Changed conditions:

  • River Drive campsites 31 - 33 remain closed.
  • River Drive access to Campsite 34 is available via southern end of River Drive.
  • The site of the PS Providence remains inaccessible.

Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) and Shire/Council roads may be closed due to flooding and/or rains in the areas of Bourke, Central Darling Shire (Wilcannia, Ivanhoe, White Cliffs, Menindee, and Pooncarie), Broken Hill area and the Unincorporated areas.  Visitors need to make enquiries with the relevant authority for road conditions prior to travel.

Please note: Driving on a closed road can lead to heavy penalties. Approximately $1100.00 fine per axle from road authorities plus additional fines from NSW National Parks & Wildlife if driving on a closed road within a National Park or Reserve.
