Yanga National Park: precautionary warning for blue green algae at Regatta Beach, Lake Yanga - Yanga National Park

The Murrumbidgee Regional Algal Coordinating Committee issued a precautionary warning for blue green algae at Regatta Beach, Lake Yanga starting 13/12/12..

We are advising all water users at Regatta Beach to be cautious when entering this water body and be vigilant of any water showing scums or areas which exhibit a musty or earth odour.

The species of blue-green algae identified are potentially toxic and may cause gastroenteritis in humans if consumed, and skin and eye irritations after contact.

Information updates about blue-green algae can be obtained by calling the Algae hotline, or by visiting www.lmw.vic.gov.au or www.water.nsw.gov.au
