Cape Byron State Conservation Area

Picnics and barbecues

From the beachside barbecue areas at Wategos Beach and Palm Valley (The Pass) to the scenic Cape Byron Lighthouse, or the more low key Tallow Beach picnic area, the Cape Byron State Conservation Area provides many great locations for a relaxing barbecue or picnic. These picnic areas are detailed below.

Remember that the abundant surroundings provide ample food for the native animals and birds, so please do not feed the wildlife. A moment's pleasure for you may lead to the animal you feed becoming addicted to junk food, aggressively harrassing people for food or becoming sick.
