Boggy Creek walk
Boggy Creek walk is an easy, short walk that allows you to meander through the rainforest at your leisure between Minyon falls and Rummery Park campground in Whian Whian State Conservation Area.
The walk is a great one for the kids and is popular throughout the seasons. In the cooler months, it’s much quieter and you might even find you have the area all to yourself.
Along the way, you can relax by swimming in the many pools near the creek side section of the walk. This area is lovely; large turpentine trees, water gums and brushbox line the creek, as well as blackbutts and flooded gum.
Stop for lunch at Rummery Park campground or head back and take in the breathtaking views at Minyon falls lookout, where Repentance Creek plunges over 100m, flowing down over enormous cliffs that were once part of the Tweek Volcano. If you still feel like walking, Minyon loop track starts from Minyon falls.

Mount Matheson loop
Experience the variety of the unique landscape along the Mount Matheson loop. On this short walking track you’ll hike through the lush rainforest that encircles Mount Matheson, before reaching the dramatic cliff edges that feature eucalypt forests. It’s not a long walk but some might find it challenging, so you’ll need to be reasonably fit, and remember to bring plenty of water.
The walk starts and ends at Mount Nardi picnic area, a small grassy area with a couple of barbecues and a picnic table.
You may want to use this loop walk to reach the Pholis Gap or historic Nightcap walking tracks. Pholis Gap is a good option to extend the loop into a day walk, and you can take the Nightcap track if you’d like to do some overnight walking and bush camping.

Pholis Gap
The track was named after Athol Pholi who was killed by a tree fall while working in the area. Beginning at Mt Nardi the track meanders through rainforest for a kilometre before splitting off the Mt Matheson Loop and descending towards the escarpment edge. Drier vegetation dominated by grass trees and New England blackbutt typify the walk to Pholis Gap, which offers views of Wollumbin/Mt Warning and surrounding valleys.

Goorgana Track
You'll need to be an experienced bushwalker for this walk. Taking up where the Pholis Gap track finishes, the route skirts westwards along the ridge line, taking in the majority of high points in the Nightcap Range. Remnants of the Kunghur flying fox are found at the end. This is a Class 5 walking route which is indistinct and overgrown in many places. Expect natural hazards such as steep slopes and rock and tree obstacles. Numerous old logging tracks may cause confusion. Walkers require a high level of skill and must be self reliant with maps, navigation, personal protection and first aid equipment.

Minyon Loop
Beginning at either Minyon Grass or Minyon Falls picnic area, this walk takes you through changing vegetation to the base of the falls and along the escarpment edge. If you want to walk only to the base of Minyon falls, the walk begins at Minyon Grass and is a 4 kilometre return walk taking around 2 hours. Both walks have steep climbs out of the valley floor.

Historic Nightcap Track
Passing through both Nightcap National Park and Whian Whian State Forest this walk can be started at either Mt Nardi or Rummery Park. The track overlaps parts of the original trail used by travellers and postal workers between Lismore and Murwillumbah in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Bush camping is permitted on this walk but you'll need to use a portable stove and carry out your own rubbish.
