Beach suitability grade
Illawarra beaches
Sydney Water Corporation monitor 18 swimming sites in the Illawarra region (covering the Wollongong, Shellharbour and Kiama local government areas). Samples are collected at Austinmer Beach, Thirroul Beach and Surf Beach Kiama every sixth day from October to April, and all other swimming sites are sampled every sixth day throughout the year. Wollongong City Council monitored Stanwell Park Beach and Coledale Beach on a weekly basis from February to April 2011.
