Better planning and management to achieve ecologically sustainable development
All life on earth depends on ecological processes. Ecologically sustainable development means using, conserving and enhancing our natural resources so that ecological processes, and in turn the quality of life now and in the future, can be maintained.
To promote local biodiversity action plans, the NSW Biodiversity Strategy funded the production of the Biodiversity Planning Guidelines for Local Government (Project 56.1). Aimed at local government planners, this useful Guide shows how biodiversity can be protected using existing planning mechanisms, such as local environmental plans. You can download this guide from the LGov NSW website. For more detail on this guide see the Biodiversity Planning Guidelines for Local Government summary.
