Biodiversity Offsets Scheme Public Registers

OEH provides a range of public registers that support the operation of the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme (BOS), as required by the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016  and Biodiversity Conservation Regulation 2017. 

The BOS public registers provide information on private land conservation agreements, biodiversity credits and biodiversity credit sales and transactions. The public registers support operation of the credit market, by helping to connect credit buyers and sellers.

BOS public registers

The BOS public registers are:

  • Accredited assessors register - provides contact details for individuals accredited to prepare assessments of biodiversity values under the BOS
  • Biodiversity credits and credit transactions register* - information on BOS credits and credit transactions (including credit type and numbers, transfers, suspensions, cancellations and retirements with the price and date of transactions).
  • Biodiversity credits wanted register* – details of proponents who are seeking biodiversity credits through the BOS.
  • Biodiversity stewardship site expressions of interest register* – details of landowners who are interested in establishing biodiversity stewardship sites.
  • Private land conservation agreements register* – details of landowners interested in establishing a private land conservation agreement with the Biodiversity Conservation Trust.

BioBanking public registers

The BioBanking public registers were established in accordance with the Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995 (repealed) under the BioBanking Scheme. The BOS has replaced the BioBanking Scheme however, the existing public registers for BioBanking will be maintained to provide information on biobanking agreements, statement s and biodiversity credits created under the TSC Act.

The BioBanking public registers are:

  • Accredited assessors register - provides contact details for individuals accredited to prepare assessments of biodiversity values under the BioBanking Scheme.
  • Biobanking agreements register - the location of each biobank site, the number and type of credits generated, and a copy of the biobanking agreement.
  • Biobanking statements register - the location of where the biobanking statement applies, the number and type of credits required, a copy of the biobanking statement and the credits retired to satisfy the conditions of the statement requirements.
  • Biodiversity credits register - provides ownership information in relation to each credit, including its status. The credit register can be used to find buyers and sellers.
  • Biodiversity credit transactions & sales register - information on credit transactions including transfers, suspensions, cancellations and retirements with the price and date of transactions.
