Appendix 2 - conservation mechanisms surveyed and described for each bioregion


High security conservation-oriented mechanisms
These include nature reserves, national parks, karst conservation reserves, historic sites, flora reserves and declared wilderness.

Medium security conservation-oriented mechanisms
These include conservation agreements, wilderness protection agreements, wildlife refuges, State Environmental Planning Policies (SEPPs) and property agreements.

Medium to low security conservation-oriented mechanisms
These include Aboriginal areas, state conservation areas, regional parks, Ramsar wetlands and World Heritage-listed areas.

Low security conservation-oriented mechanisms
These include Indigenous protected areas and the Register of National Estate.
