NSW Council on Environmental Education

The NSW Council on Environmental Education (CEE) was established under the Protection of the Environment Administration Act 1991 to advise the NSW Government on strategic directions for environmental education.

The current CEE was appointed by the Minister for the Environment in consultation with the Minister for Education and Training in June 2008. Its term is fixed at three years.

The Council's role is to:

• advise government on environmental education 
• coordinate the preparation of state-wide 3 year plans for environmental education and 
• monitor and report on the implementation of such plans.

The Council's vision is for:

• Effective and integrated environmental education which builds the capacity of the people of NSW to be informed and active participants in moving society towards sustainability.
