Sustaining our environment

Learning for Sustainability Resource Kit

Who is the 2007-10 Plan for?

The Plan is relevant to all people whose work involves making decisions, educating or communicating about environmental matters. The Plan is particularly relevant for those who:

  • have responsibilities for planning corporate strategies, plans or  policies
  • work for organisations that deliver environmental and natural resources programs, including State Government agencies and  non-government organisations, industry and community groups
  • are involved in providing environmental education programs and activities, and use education and training, information, advice and communication tools
  • provide professional development and training and other support for environmental educators
  • manage programs and operations that have an impact on the environment.

Explore, Plan, Act

To help you explore how your activities can contribute to goals shared by people involved in environmental education across the State we have prepared a Speaker's Kit (available on CD).

The Kit includes:

  • the Plan
  • a presentation about the Plan (PowerPoint)
  • a workshop guide
  • brochures for school education, environment groups, local government, universities and business and industry explaining what the Plan means for them (above)

These documents (plus a few textas and some butcher's paper) are all you need to run a short workshop introducing the Plan to your group or organisation.

Workshop Guide

Whether running a full workshop (of 1.5 - 2 hours duration), or simply addressing a forum using the slide presentation, the guide should support your activities. Feel free to adapt the Workshop guide to suit your needs.

Presentation

The presentation will take approximately 10-15 minutes, and is appropriate for a meeting or workshop setting. Facilitator's notes are attached to many of the slides to give some background or assistance in the delivery of each slide.

These slides and facilitator's notes cover:

  • an overview of the Plan;
  • progress made on the last plan; and
  • your involvement in implementing the Plan.
