Contaminated land - record of notices


Record under section 58 of the Contaminated Land Management Act 1997

This record is maintained by DECC in accordance with Part 5 of the Contaminated Land Management Act 1997 (CLM Act).

The record does provide
tick a record of written notices issued by DECC under the CLM Act, including preliminary investigation orders.
tick the names of the sites, owners or occupiers at the time of DECC action in relation to the site
tick copies of site audit statements (SAS) provided to DECC under section 52 of the CLM Act and relating to significantly contaminated land.
 
The record does not provide
cross a record of all contaminated land in NSW. See frequently asked questions
cross a list of notifications of contamination that DECC receives.
cross the names of the sites, owners or occupiers if it changes after DECC action in relation to the site.
cross full copies of agreed voluntary investigation or remediation proposals

From 1 July 2009 there are changes to the terminology of certain DECC actions under the CLM Act. See the list of these changes.

The record includes notices issued under sections 35 and 36 of the Environmentally Hazardous Chemicals Act 1985. These sections have been been repealed. These notices are treated by the CLM Act as investigation or remediation orders.
