Coastal and estuary data

OEH is responsible for the management of the NSW Coastal Data Network. Manly Hydraulics Laboratory maintains and operates the data network under contract to OEH. The data is used by OEH, Bureau of Meteorology, State Emergency Service and local councils for flood and storm warning and forecasting purposes.

The network is made of estuary and ocean water level recorders, rainfall gauges and offshore waverider buoys that measure waves. The network provides real- time data from various sites located along the NSW Coast.

The wave data presented online by Manly Hydraulics Laboratory has been collected under the NSW Coastal Data Network Program managed by the OEH.

NSW Nearshore Wave Transformation

The NSW Nearshore Wave Transformation site is being developed by Manly Hydraulics Laboratory to allow access to modelling of nearshore wave transformation along the NSW coastline. This Tool uses numerical model results to transform measured and/or forecast offshore wave conditions to provide estimated nearshore wave conditions for the last four days and forecasts for up to three days ahead.

NSW Water Level Data Collection Program

Manly Hydraulics Laboratory collects water level data at over 500 continuously recording stations with additional sites installed for specific studies. The majority of data available online for the public has been collected under the NSW Coastal Data Network Program managed by OEH.
