Aboriginal communities
DEC recognises and respects the role of Aboriginal people in sustaining the natural environment. Around NSW, many Aboriginal communities are linking traditional concerns for country to current environmental, health and employment issues.

- Planning activities to protect our places - a guide for Aboriginal communities (PDF - 3MB) is a project planning guide designed to assist Aboriginal communities plan and implement environment protection, education and restoration projects in their local area.
- Aboriginal people protecting country - environmental sustainability success stories (PDF - 3.6MB) presents a series of case studies of successful environmental management projects designed, developed and implemented by Aboriginal communities.
- Working with local Aboriginal communities on environmental projects (PDF - 400KB) is aimed at assisting local council officers involve Aboriginal communities in their environment protection and restoration activities.
