Monitoring and review

Monitoring and annual reporting of NSW Forest Agreements

Section 21 (1) of the Forestry and National Park Estate Act 1998 requires the Minister to prepare an annual report on each NSW forest agreement, including addressing:

  • ecologically sustainable forest management (ESFM) in the region, and
  • compliance with any integrated forestry operations approval (IFOA) for the region.

The annual reports:

  • give the progress on the achievement of milestones detailed in each forest agreement
  • summarise the results of monitoring the ESFM criteria and indicators
  • outline Forests NSW' compliance with each IFOA.

Annual reports are compiled from information and data provided by the Department of Environment and Climate Change and the Department of Primary Industries - Forests NSW and Fisheries.

Reviews of NSW Forest Agreements and IFOAs, and of RFAs

Four NSW Forest Agreements and four IFOAs have been reviewed.

A review of the RFAs has also commenced.

There are two strands to the reviews; one for the three State and Commonwealth Regional Forest Agreements (RFAs) and the other for the NSW forest agreements and IFOAs.
