Climate Action Grants Program
The NSW Government is committed to improving its response to climate change. On 30 June 2007 the Climate Action Grants program was incorporated into the new wider reaching grants program called the Climate Change Fund, along with funds from the Water and Energy Savings Fund and the Environmental Trust.
There will be no further rounds of the Climate Action Grants program as this program is now closed.
Projects previously funded under the program will continue until completed. By selecting the links below, you can view details of successful grants:
Objectives of the Climate Action Grants Program
The Climate Action Grants program supported fundedprojects that assisted the development and adoption of technologies, processes and practices that reduced greenhouse gas emissions or helped the NSW community to adapt to the impacts of climate change. The objectives of the Climate Action grants program were to:
- Foster and promote private or public sector innovation in the pursuit of greenhouse abatement in NSW, by providing financial assistance to develop technologies, applications and activities that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions other than technologies concerning the supply and use of energy
Promote the adoption of emissions reduction technologies and assist adaptation to climate change impacts
Promote innovative research and technology development in waste, industrial processes, transport, forestry and land use which will contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and assist adaptation to climate change impacts in NSW.
There were two types of grants under the program.
1. Technology Action Grants
To progress advances in greenhouse abatement technologies or technologies that assist adaptation to climate change impacts in NSW
To support the development of products, processes, practices and programs which minimise greenhouse gas emissions or assist adaptation to climate change impacts in the waste, transport, forestry, agriculture, industry processes or land use sectors (but not including energy generation and use).
2. Community Action Grants
Increase the capacity of NSW industry, business, government or the community to reduce greenhouse emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change in NSW.
Promote widespread adoption of products, processes, practices and programs which minimise greenhouse gas emissions or assist the adaptation to climate change impacts in the waste, transport, forestry, agriculture, industry processes or land use (but not including energy generation and use). This can include education and awareness raising, adaptation planning and implementation of tools.
The program was open to:
- Private and public sector organisations
- Industry associations
- Community Groups and non-profit organisations
