Frequently asked questions

Are there any measures that we should incorporate into our Monitoring and Evaluation Plan?

Specific measures for inclusion in Monitoring and Evaluation Plans have been developed by the Environmental Trust (Schedule C - Project Measures). Updating the Schedule C document when you submit progress and final reports will allow the Trust to compile data from across all funded projects. Other measures specific to your project may also be included in your Monitoring and Evaluation Plan.

When reporting on Trust measures, it is important to include a measure for each project objective and projected outcome.

What is the process after I complete Schedule C - Project Measures and a Monitoring and Evaluation Plan?

Each grant recipient under the Environmental Education, Restoration and Rehabilitation and Protecting Our Places (POP) grant programs must submit and have approved by the Trust a Monitoring and Evaluation Plan and Schedule C - Project Measures within 30 working days of receiving the Grant Agreement. For Research grantees, the Schedule C - Project Measures tab titled Research must be completed. Once the required documentation is received and approved, the Trust proceeds with the first payment of the Grant.

At regular intervals during project implementation, Grantees need to review progress (what has worked etc), measure progress (change) and evaluate according to the objectives set out in the Monitoring and Evaluation Plan. This information will form the basis of Progress and Final Reports, as outlined in Schedule B of the Environmental Trust Grant Agreement.

Do I have to use the Environmental Trust's Monitoring and Evaluation Plan and the Report template?

Yes. Grantees under Environmental Education, Restoration and Rehabilitation and Protecting our Places programs must use the templates provided.

Are there any reporting requirements?

The Environmental Trust requires you to report on your project as outlined in your Grant Agreement. Generally, Grantees are required to submit one or more progress reports and a final report. You can learn more about reporting process and template here. The reporting template used by the Trust is designed to link to your Monitoring and Evaluation Plan. The reporting process also requires Grantees to submit an 'updated' Schedule C - Project measures, based on the outputs achieved.

Are there different reporting requirements depending on the amount funded?

No. Grantees under Restoration and Rehabilitation, Environmental Education and Protecting our Places programs use the same Monitoring and Evaluation Plan and Reporting templates, regardless of funding amount. If a project is a small simple one, (generally ones under $35,000) you will just include less detail in the report than if the undertaking a large complex project. The level of detail provided should reflect the amount of funds provided by the grant.

Do I have to complete and submit both a Monitoring and Evaluation Plan and Schedule C - Project Measures?

Yes. Grantees under Environmental Education, Restoration and Rehabilitation and Protecting our Places programs must complete and submit both a Monitoring and Evaluation Plan and a Schedule C - Project Measures using the templates provided.
