Climate Action Grants Program

The NSW Government is committed to improving its response to climate change.

On 30 June 2007 the Climate Action Grants program was incorporated into the new wider reaching grants program called the Climate Change Fund, along with funds from the Water and Energy Savings Fund and the Environmental Trust.

The new program will total $310 million over five years and will include rebates, education and grants.

There will be no further rounds of the Climate Action Grants program. Projects currently funded under the previous program will continue. You can find out more about these projects by following the links below.

Objectives of the Climate Action Grants Program

The Climate Action Grants program continues to support funded projects that assist the development and adoption of technologies, processes and practices that reduce greenhouse gas emissions or help the NSW community to adapt to the impacts of climate change. The objectives of the Climate Action grants program are to:

    • Foster and promote private or public sector innovation in the pursuit of greenhouse abatement in NSW, by providing financial assistance to develop technologies, applications and activities that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions other than technologies concerning the supply and use of energy;
    • Promote the adoption of emissions reduction technologies and assist adaptation to climate change impacts;
    • Promote innovative research and technology development in waste, industrial processes, transport, forestry and land use which will contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and assist adaptation to climate change impacts in NSW.
