NSW Heritage Grants

The NSW Government is committed to ensuring that our heritage is valued, protected, and enjoyed. The Heritage Grants Program is designed to help owners, managers and communities to know, value and care for their heritage.

Aboriginal Heritage

Purpose: To support the conservation and promotion of significant Aboriginal heritage in NSW (State or Federal Government owned and managed lands not eligible).

Funding available: $20,000 to $70,000 (per project ex GST)

Matching funding: Matching funding required from Local Councils, no matching funding from other applicants

Community Heritage Projects (Peak Organisations)

Purpose: To facilitate the delivery of programs that support the promotion, protection and celebration of heritage in NSW.

Funding available: Up to $150,000 (per project ex GST)

Matching funding required: No

Community Heritage Projects

Purpose: To deliver engaging projects that support community groups, to promote, protect and celebrate heritage in NSW.

Funding available: $25,000 to $50,000 (per project ex GST)

Project Purpose: To tell significant, heritage stories from the region with augmented reality (AR)

Project Title: Myall Creek Education and Cultural Centre awareness film
Project Purpose: To create a short awareness film to educate the community about the Myall Creek Massacre and raise awareness for the new Myall Creek Education and Cultural Centre at the Myall Creek Massacre Memorial

Funding Amount: $25,350 (ex GST) Financial Year: 2016-17
Project Title: History Here
Project Purpose: For local students to create short films about local history and screen the final product at a public screening at State Heritage Register listed, Amusu Theatre

Project Title: Hume & Hovell Explorers Digital Storytelling
Project Purpose: For local youths to interview and record their peers and historians telling stories about the Hume and Hovell expedition, including site specific stories along the Hume and Hovell track

Major Works

Heritage Reports

Local Government Heritage Advisors

Local Heritage Places (Small heritage grants program)

Local Government Heritage Planning Studies

Grants under the State heritage emergency works program are open year round subject to available funding.
