Statement of significance:

Impressive, late Victorian, semi-detached villa. Essentially intact and one of the best surviving examples in the Waverley Council area. Historical interest for its long association with the Vickery family and the hospital. Part of the hospital group, complementing "Ellerslie" opposite. Regional significance.

Description

Construction years: 1890-
Physical description: Late Victorian semi-detached villa. Two storeys with high pitched, slate roof. Complex plan and roof shape. Italianate style, with Gothic influence evident in pitch of gables. Complements "Ellerslie" on opposite side of driveway. Bays below gables to driveway feature unusual parapets. Cast iron verandahs and balconies between. Elaborately decorated in stucco, especially bay. Iron lace decoration to verandahs and balconies.

History

Historical notes: Built by Ebenezer Vickery for his sons, together with the building opposite, in the 1880's. Donated for the establishment of the hospital by the family, just after the First World War. Now used as a nurse's residence.
