Statement of significance:

Good example of a 1930's institutional building. Limited architectural interest due to some loss of integrity, but special historic and community interest as part of the hospital group. Helps frame the garden area to "Edina" and remains reasonably sympathetic in its scale and styling. Local significance.

Description

Construction years: 1915-1945
Physical description: Large fully rendered 1930's style institutional building. Terra cotta tiled roof. Rectangular massing. Three storeys with attic area over projecting entry. Features its own high pitched, hipped roof. Large eaves brackets of special note. Most openings have round arches with fanlights. Limited balcony areas, both recessed and open. Decoration generally restrained, in keeping with the period. Added to over the years. Some alteration to the main external façade, but original still recognisable, for the most part. Numerous other additions, generally unsympathetic, on Church Street and Carrington Road elevations.
