Statement of significance:

Outstanding row of turn-of-the-century, transitional style houses. Gothic styling is distinctly Victorian, with face brick and timber decoration characteristic of the Federation period. An uncommon combination. Essentially intact despite some loss of integrity. Excellent streetscape contribution at the western entry to the Bondi Road commercial strip. Local significance.

Description

Construction years: 1890-1915
Physical description: Row of three, turn-of-the-century, transitional style houses. Face brick with gabled, slate roofs. Steep pitched, Gothic style gables with carved barge boards, and one surviving finial. Verandahs across front at ground floor, divided by wing walls. Essentially intact above verandahs. Centre house (No. 61) painted below, but no other major alterations. Smooth and moulded render used for decoration in vertical and horizontal bands. Terra cotta ridge capping to roof. Excellent oriel windows with slate hoods. Verandahs also roofed in slate. Turned timber posts and simple timber valences. Minor alterations to windows and doors. All have original palisade fencing.
