Statement of significance:

One of the Waverley area's best surviving, grand, Late Victorian villas. Essentially unaltered. Special historic interest for its period of institutional use. Local significance. Description

Construction years: 1890-1890
Physical description: Magnificent Victorian mansion, c. 1880. Unaltered except for terra cotta roof tiles, new unsympathetic masonry fence and sympathetic replacement of balcony roof and decoration. Has also lost some verandah detailing. Symmetrical design with outstanding, central tower. Projects over entry. Castellated at top. Balcony/verandah on either side, returning to side elevations. Original, elaborate stucco, scrollwork, iron lace and etched glass door, all of special note. Good chimneys. Large tree in front, as well as palm.

History

Historical notes: Became the Sydney Home For Babies in 1916. Institutional use probably saved it from demolition.
