Outstanding example of a symmetrical, Federation style. In excellent condition, with some fine detailing. Local significance.

Description

Construction years: 1890-1915
Physical description: Very good symmetrical Federation style. Complex terra cotta tiled roof. Two decorative timber gables at front, above bays to verandah, and one to Henrietta Street elevation. Door in recess between bay windows. Dichromatic tuckpointed face brick with excellent stone plinth to bays. Turned timber verandah posts with panelled frieze. Leadlight glazing on alternate panels appears original. Together with the matching leadlight casement windows, this is one of the features of special note. Excellent, tall chimneys. Simple picket fence with garden in small setback area. Security door is only noticeable alteration. Overall, in immaculate condition.

History

Historical notes: First appears in Sands Directory in 1908, occupied by Joseph Bryant. Known as "Loretto". Remained in Bryant family until about 1925.
