Statement of significance:

Municipal work from the Federation period forming an important streetscape element. Good example of early twentieth century engineering construction, a response to the steep local topography. Local significance.

Description

Construction years: 1891-1920
Physical description: Street with split level carriageway. Construction probably dates from Federation period (c.1910). Upper level supported by high coursed sandstone wall of engineering quality. Carefully cut large rectangular blocks of rock faced stone. Trimmed and raked top coping course. Wall cut into natural sandstone outcrop. Maximum height of wall to about 4m.
