Statement of significance:

Set of stone houses built by Ebenezer Vickery in 1866 for the workers at his tannery. The houses all had stone dunnies on the rear lane, most of which have now been remodelled in various ways. Only two remain in unaltered condition, the one at rear of No. 10 still having some of its shingles, the one at rear of No. 14 being now unroofed. Old privies have a great deal of archaeological value for they are frequently filled with household garbage (broken crockery, glass, discarded implements, toys, items of clothing etc.) which is often well-preserved in anaerobic sludge. These dunnies therefore warrant archaeological investigation if the opportunity arises.
