Medium Significance.
Stone cottage beside the Punt Road approach to the original area, which contributes by its material texture and design to the homogeneity of the precinct. Refer to main listing for precinct.

Description

Designer/Maker: James Barnet
Physical description: Small sandstone cottage with slate roof not in use, except to store items of interest associated with the history of the Institution. Wooden posted verandah.
Date condition updated:25 Jan 95
Modifications and dates: 1910, 1950, 1970
Current use: Chaplain's Office
Former use: Gate House

History

Historical notes: Following the purchase of Folkard and Isler's adjoining property in 1874, a new main entrance to the hospital was formed. Part of this work was the erection of this gate keeper's lodge. Additions made in 1956.
Brick and concrete room added to east c.1950, verandah enclosed c.1910 and partly rebuilt c.1970.
