Using the Power Savings Kit items will save households around 10 percent a year off their power use.  Putting the Power Savings Action Plan to work can save another 10 percent a year.  Some households will be able to save more.

Saving power reduces carbon pollution and helps the environment.  The  average NSW home produces 160,000 black balloons* of carbon pollution a year which contributes to climate change.

Over the life of the program it is anticipated that participating households will collectively save around:

  • $21 million from household bills a year and
  • 160,000 tonnes of carbon pollution a year.

The Home Power Savings Program (formerly called the Low Income Household Refit Program) is part of the NSW Government’s $150 million Energy Efficiency Strategy

OEH has conducted a series of pilots in Orange, Bathurst and Western Sydney to inform the delivery of the main program.
