Review of the Lord Howe Island Act 1953
Review of the Lord Howe Island Act 1953
The then Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water (DECCW) undertook the statutory review of the Lord Howe Island Act 1953 on behalf of the Minister for Climate Change and the Environment.
The purpose of the review was to check that the Act’s objectives were still valid, and to ensure that they were drafted to effectively deliver actions to meet those objectives. The Review of the Lord Howe Island Act 1953 (10178LHowereview.pdf 442kb) presents the review’s findings and recommends minor amendments to the Act to improve its operation.
As part of the review process, a paper was released to stimulate discussion of issues relating to the Act and encourage people to make a submission to the review. Comments closed on 31 July 2009. This discussion paper forms Attachment A of the report. A draft report was released and comments closed on 10 March 2010
