AHIP application forms

AHIPs, AHIP variations, AHIP transfers, and AHIP surrenders

Aboriginal Heritage Impact Permit applications

A person can apply for a new Aboriginal Heritage Impact Permit (AHIP). To apply for a new AHIP under section 90A of the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974  you will need to:

  1. prepare a cultural heritage assessment report that meets the requirements in the National Parks and Wildlife Regulation 2009
  2. complete an Aboriginal community consultation process required by the National Parks and Wildlife Regulation 2009  (and also described in the Aboriginal cultural heritage consultation requirements for proponents 2010 (09781ACHconsultreq.pdf, 4MB))
  3. download and fill in the AHIP application form (20110734AHIPapplication.pdf, 499KB) and provide any additional information to support your application, including site information for the Aboriginal Heritage Information Management System (AHIMS)
  4. send your completed form, accompanying documentation and payment to your nearest OEH regional office.

Note: The AHIP application form is provided in pdf format and can be filled in electronically if desired. Download and save the blank form to your computer before filling it in. The completed form will still need to be printed and submitted to an OEH office with the appropriate application fee and supporting information.

Vary AHIP conditions

A variation includes the substitution, omission or amendment of an existing condition, or attaching a new condition to an AHIP. To apply for an AHIP variation under section 90D of the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974, complete the following steps:

  1. If your variation will result in a significant increase in harm, complete an Aboriginal community consultation process that has been set by the Director General (see National Parks and Wildlife Regulation 2009).
  2. Download and fill in the AHIP variation application form (20110736AHIPvariation.pdf, 281KB) and provide any additional information to support your application.
  3. Send your completed form, accompanying documentation and payment to your nearest OEH regional office.

Transfer an AHIP

An AHIP can be transferred to another person. To apply for a transfer of an AHIP under section 90B of the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974 you will need to:

  1. download and fill in the AHIP transfer application form (20110735AHIPtransfer.pdf, 193KB) and provide any additional information to support your application
  2. send your completed form (signed by both the current and proposed AHIP holder) and payment to your nearest OEH regional office.

Surrender an AHIP

An AHIP can be surrendered by the AHIP holder. To apply to surrender an AHIP under section 90H of the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974 you will need to:

  1. download and fill in the AHIP surrender application form (20110737AHIPsurrender.pdf, 86KB) and provide any additional information to support your application
  2. send your completed form, accompanying documentation and payment to your nearest OEH regional office.

The completed form will still need to be printed and submitted to an OEH office with the appropriate application fee and supporting information.
