Aboriginal heritage impact permits
An Aboriginal Heritage Impact Permit (AHIP) is the statutory instrument that OEH issues under section 90 of the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974 (NPW Act) to manage harm or potential harm to Aboriginal objects and places.
More information on the protection and regulation of Aboriginal cultural heritage is available on this website.
Where harm to an Aboriginal object or Aboriginal place cannot be avoided, an AHIP can be issued by the Chief Executive of OEH under Part 6 of the NPW Act.
