Catchment management
Water quality and river flow interim environmental objectives
The Water quality and river flow interim environmental objectives website contains interim water quality objectives (WQOs) and river flow objectives (RFOs) for 31 catchments in New South Wales. The objectives have been released as guidelines to river, water and groundwater management committees preparing river, water and groundwater management plans.
Catchment Management Authorities
Natural resource management in New South Wales underwent change following the recommendations of the Native Vegetation Reform Implementation Group chaired by Ian Sinclair. The group was appointed by the Premier, Bob Carr to ensure a solid foundation for better management of our native vegetation and protection of our natural resources while minimising restrictions to farming activities.
A key component of the reform program was the establishment of Catchment Management Authorities (CMAs). From January 2004, CMAs were formally constituted as statutory authorities with a responsible and accountable board. CMA boards report directly to the Minister for Infrastructure and Planning and Minister for Natural Resources.
Please go to the Department of Infrastructure Planning and Natural Resources (NSW) for information about Catchment Management Authorities.
