Albury businesses invited to free Kill-a-Watt breakfast on energy savings

Media release: 13 October 2014

Small and large businesses are invited to gain tips on saving energy and learn about financing options for embracing energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy at a free event in Albury on 30 October.

Registrations are now open for the Kill-a-Watt’ business breakfast developed by the NSW Office of Environment & Heritage (OEH).

  • Date: Thursday 30 October
  • Time: 7.15 – 8.45am (breakfast included)
  • Venue: Elizabeth Room, Albury Entertainment Centre

The event will be part of Albury Wodonga Sustainable Living Week (26 Oct - 1 Nov 2014).

OEH Regional Clean Energy Coordinator Kylie Walker said businesses were increasingly looking for practical ways to build sustainability into operations.

“Speakers at this event will highlight information and techniques that can help businesses and organisations reduce costs and gain a distinct competitive advantage,” Ms Walker said.

“We’ll share tips including how to read energy bills, accessing training opportunities through the NSW Energy Saver program, and financing options for energy efficiency investments.”

The free breakfast will also feature an interactive session with representatives from local businesses who are part of Sustainability Advantage, a program assisting organisations to achieve increased competitiveness and improved bottom lines through better environmental practices.

Hume Bank, Geofabrics Australasia, Mars Petcare, Charles Sturt University, Norske Skog Albury, Overall Forge, Riverina Dairy, Iplex and Riverina Institute of TAFE – Albury Campus are all part of Sustainability Advantage.

Registrations for ‘Kill-a-Watt’ are open until Monday 27 October. Register at http://register.environment.nsw.gov.au/albury-expo or call  0477 716 757.
