Media release: 21 January 2015

Are you interested in helping to protect Cudgen Nature Reserve? The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is seeking volunteers to join ‘Friends of Cudgen Nature Reserve’.

NPWS Tweed-Kyogle Area Acting Manager, Stephen King said that  Friends of Cudgen Nature Reserve meet once a month to undertake bush regeneration in the reserve.

‘Volunteering in the reserve is an opportunity to meet like-minded people and to develop skills in bush regeneration,’ Mr King said.

‘Friends of Cudgen Nature Reserve assist the NPWS to control weeds and to plant trees which provide habitat for koalas and other significant species in the reserve.’

‘If you have a spare two to four hours then come along to one of the upcoming work days being held on Saturday the 14th of February and Saturday the 14th of March.

‘On the 14th of March Friends of Cudgen Nature Reserve plan to plant 100 Koala food trees in the reserve.’

 ‘Morning tea is provided.’

‘For further information or to be placed on a mailing list contact the NPWS on 66708605.’

‘Volunteering is a great way to make a positive difference to our local environment,’ said Mr King.
