Chance for kids to join in new holiday activity at Kinchega National Park

Media release: 8 April 2014

An outback adventure that combines fun on your computer screen and a real walk on the wild side is on offer to kids at Kinchega National Park these school holidays, as part of the National Parks and Wildlife Service WilderQuest program.

The program combines a PC game, iPad app and guided tours to immerse kids in the wonder of nature.

Ranger Julieanne Doyle is very excited about the new school holiday activity WilderQuest – track detective.

“I have had a lot of fun developing this program with my colleagues and I can’t wait to share it with the kids out into the field.

“This program is all about fun with learning as a secondary feature.

“It is aimed at primary school kids but older children are welcome to join in,” she said.

Join Ranger Jules on a detective mission to find out what animals call Kinchega National Park home.

“Before my WilderQuest rangers join me in the field I will reveal all about animal tracks and how they can make them using their hands.

“The search for tracks in the bush will then begin as we discover who lives here.

“There are lots of games to be played and fun activities too just like in the online game.

“Come join me and put your detective skills to the test”, Ms Doyle said.

The tours will run on Tuesdays the 15th and 22nd of April at 2-4pm meeting at the Kinchega Woolshed carpark.
