Big Bush Nature Reserve
Overview
Big Bush Nature Reserve was created in November 1984. It covers an area of 640ha. View the detailed park and fire management documents.
The low ridges of Big Bush Nature Reserve are dominated by communities of mugga iron bark, black cypress and grey box. A diversity of healthy shrubs feature in the low woodland and tall shrubland on the rocky ridge tops.
There's also a patch of green mallee, which is at the southern end of the range for this species.
The reserve is managed with the objective of conserving this remnant vegetation, and its fauna habitats, in an otherwise largely cleared area. No visitation and minimal management input are practised.
