A pool of $360,000 in grant funding will be available over two rounds to private tour companies operating in Sydney Harbour, the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area, the Australian Alps, Australia’s Green Cauldron (Northern Rivers/north east NSW) and Australia’s Coastal Wilderness (NSW far south coast).

Environment Minister Mark Speakman said the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) Commercial Tour Operator Small Grant Program’s objective was to improve and develop new visitor experiences in five iconic NSW landscapes.

“We want to provide new nature and cultural tourism experiences to support small park tourism operators and grow tourism in national parks,” Mr Speakman said.

“The program supports the contribution eco-tourism makes to the NSW economy and promotes NSW’s world class visitor experiences.”

Under this program, eco-pass tour operators need to match the funding approved for any successful application. NPWS already licenses about 200 commercial operators, to provide visitor experiences in national parks.

Applications under this program close on 30 June 2016.
