The National Parks and Wildlife Service advises an early seasonal closure of the Cabramurra to Khancoban Road due to forecast weather conditions.

Director Southern Ranges Branch Mick Pettitt said the road was closed from 8 June until the October long weekend.

“The Cabramurra to Khancoban road is seasonally closed each year, at a minimum it is closed from the June long weekend to the October long weekend, due to the hazardous conditions experienced on the road during winter.

“Due to the forecast for snow and the risk that this may cause in making the road impassable, NPWS has decided to take the safety-first principle and close the road a week before normal closure this year. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause however we care for the safety of our visitors and road users.”

“Motorists and visitors are advised that while an alternate route is available via the Elliott Way, this will add an extra one-and-a-half hours travel time. Visitors need to factor this additional time into their travel plans,” Mr Pettitt said.
