Lend a helping hand at Kosciuszko's Clean Up Day
Want to help at this year's Clean Up Kosci Day? Volunteers are needed this Sunday 11 March to help clean up Kosciuszko National Park.
Tim Scanlon, NPWS Environmental Liaison Officer said the Clean Up Kosci Day will tackle several sites along Kosciuszko Road and some of the highest elevated parts of Australia.
"Kosciuszko National Park is our playground – from skiing and boarding to mountain biking, music festivals and walking - it has something for just about everyone," said Mr Scanlon.
"Kosciuszko National Park also supports many beautiful landscapes and its environmental significance is recognised throughout the world.
"Unfortunately, litter is an increasing problem in the national park, and not just in and around the ski resorts.
"No one wants to have a rubbish tip in their backyard or playground so let's come together and help clean up Kosci – our very special backyard and playground," Mr Scanlon said.
Clean Up Australia Day is a nation-wide event that has been going for 26 years and collected over 344 thousand tonnes of rubbish.
Participants will need to have sturdy shoes, a sun hat, water and food, warm clothing and wet weather clothing to allow for the changeable weather of an alpine area.
Clean Up Kosci Day starts at 9am and finishes around lunch time. To register your involvement, contact the NPWS Environmental Liaison Officer (Resorts) Tim Scanlon on 6450 5616.
