Holidaying in national parks

Do you remember the first time you tried to ski? Or perhaps a favourite family campsite next to a tinkling creek or beside a patch of fragrant bush? National parks are part of a long tradition of holidaying in some of the most spectacular locations in NSW.

Popular holiday destinations in the 19th century were much the same as today, and include

• Echo Point and Katoomba in the Blue Mountains
• Kosciuszko National Park, where skiing was introduced by bored miners at Kiandra in the 1860s
• Audley in Royal National Park, which once provided holiday accommodation and activities and is now a popular picnic area.

There are many opportunities for holidaying in national parks, ranging from bush camping locations to lighthouses, old homesteads, and shearers quarters.
