Review process for the plan of management for Kosciuszko National Park
Plans of management are prepared by the NPWS for all national parks that it manages. They are required under the National Parks and Wildlife Act. They are statutory documents that outline what can and cannot be done within the park. They outline how the park should be managed in the future to ensure that it is adequately protected.
The Kosciuszko National Park Plan of Management helps protect and enhance the park's values. It provides a framework for the NPWS and the community for the next 15-20 years.
In February 2001, the NSW Government announced that the Kosciuszko National Park Plan of Management would be reviewed. The review commenced in January 2002 and involved wide-ranging public consultation during the development of the draft plan, which was placed on public exhibition from 17 May 2004 to 3 September 2004.
