OEH's park management policies:
guide appropriate conduct in national parks and reserves to protect native plants, animals and ecosystems
balance the needs of conservation with the needs of visitors and of businesses operating in national parks and reserves
clarify the responsibilities of OEH, businesses operating in reserves, neighbours and visitors.
These policies are:
Beekeeping policy - balances conservation needs with the needs of the beekeeping industry
Boundary fencing policy - clarifies the responsibilities of OEH and adjoining landholders in constructing, maintaining, repairing and replacing boundary fencing
- Commercial recreation and tourism in wilderness areas (interim) policy - guides commercial tour and recreation activities in wilderness
Cycling policy - explains where cycling may take place in national parks and reserves
Firewood policy - covers the collection and use of firewood in national parks and reserves
Geocaching Policy - seeks to manage the activity of geocaching to minimise impacts on the values of parks
Naming Policy - sets out criteria for naming or renaming a national park or reserve
Neighbour relations policy - sets out responsibilities of OEH and neighbouring landowners and promotes constructive relationships between OEH and neighbours
- Pets policy - explains when and where pets are allowed in national parks and reserves
Roads Policy - guides the design, construction, maintenance and demolition of roads within parks.
Walking tracks policy - provides guidance on classifying walking tracks and communicating walking track experiences
- Wild dog policy - deals with the management of wild dogs and the conservation of dingoes
