About this publication

Ocean Shores to Desert Dunes

January 2004

A comprehensive, authoritative and beautifully illustrated new book on the native vegetation of New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.

Ocean Shores to Desert Dunes comprehensively describes each class of native vegetation in NSW and the ACT, explaining where it occurs and why, interesting aspects of ecology, evolution, history and development, as well as current conservation and management challenges. The book includes more than 100 maps and over 400 colour photographs, and a species list for each vegetation class. This reference is the perfect companion to the many plant identification guides currently available, and is based on a significant new map and vegetation classification.

Dr David Keith is a highly respected research scientist in the Department of Environment and Conservation (formerly the NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service), where he has been based for more than 15 years. He is a gifted communicator with an international publication record.
