How will I know if my application for a native animal keepers licence or companion animal licence has been successful?

If you applied for an animal keeper licence (class 1) or companion animal licence online you should receive both the licence and transaction receipt in an email within 48 hours.

If you applied by mail, it takes up to 21 days for your application to be processed. Your licence will be sent by mail.

If your licence did not arrive, contact the Wildlife Licensing and Management Unit. Give them your name, date of birth and the date you applied.

Are you aware of upcoming changes to wildlife licensing?

The Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 is scheduled to commence from 25 August 2017.

Existing wildlife licence classes, conditions and fees will remain in place after the Act begins.

Proposed changes to wildlife licensing under the new Act will be exhibited for public comment in the second half of 2017. These changes are expected to be taken up during 2018.
