Disposal of radiation apparatus - Information for owners
Under clause 23 (2) of the Radiation Control Regulation 2003, if an owner wishes to dispose of radiation apparatus, the apparatus must first be rendered permanently inoperable.
Registered apparatus
Apparatus required to be registered under the Regulation is required to be disposed of in accordance with the conditions attached to the Certificate of Registration. The owner must notify the Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH) of the disposal using the form, Notification of disposal – Ionising radiation apparatus used in diagnostic imaging, radiotherapy and planning of radiotherapy (disposalDIA.pdf, 115 kb).
Unregistered apparatus
In the case of radiation apparatus, not required to be registered under the Regulation, apparatus may be disposed of on the condition that prior to disposal the radiation apparatus is made permanently inoperable.
