Preparation of radiation safety manuals

Under clause 16 of the Radiation Control Regulation 2003, an employer must, if required to do so by the Chief Executive, prepare or adopt a radiation safety manual relevant to the particular area of work.

Radiation guideline 2: Preparation of radiation safety manuals provides minimum advice on what a safety manual should contain. It is intended to be used as a guide only.

Radiation accidents

The Radiation Control Act 1990 and the Radiation Control Regulation 2003 impose certain responsibilities on employers regarding radiation accidents.

Radiation licence exemptions

The Radiation Control Act 1990 and Radiation Control Regulation 2003 impose restrictions on persons using radioactive substances, ionising radiation apparatus and certain types of non-ionising apparatus. Employers must ensure that all employees who use radiation apparatus or radioactive substances hold an appropriate licence, or have been issued with an exemption approval allowing them such use.
